Get Ready for National Friends of Libraries Week with a Special Agatha Christie Event

The Safety Harbor Public Library will be spending the week of October 21-27, celebrating their Friends of the Library group as part of the sixth annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week.  To kick off the week, the Friends are holding a Wine and Cheese Membership event on Thursday, October 18 at 6:30 pm.   Anyone joining or renewing their membership to the Friends during this event will be entered to win tickets to the Ruth Eckerd Hall presentation of the award-winning production of “Agatha Christie: The BBC Murders” and other gift cards.  At 7:00 pm professional storyteller Nan Colton of Solo Productions portrays one of literature’s famous mavens of murder in her performance, “Agatha Christie – It’s All A Mystery.” 

The Friends of the Safety Harbor Library, established in 2001 currently have 50 members, with 12 who actively volunteer their time to assist the group with fundraising efforts, including quarterly book sales, the Book Store housed inside the Library, and annual basket raffle sales occurring now through the first week in November. 

“Our library is much richer with the Friends,” said library director Lisa Kothe. “The funds they raise allow us to offer programs over and above our city budget and really put the icing on the cake.   Most library members would be surprised to learn how many of the services and programs they enjoy are supported by the Friends.”
