We Are R.E.A.L. Fun! Safety Harbor
Find out all about R.E.A.L. Fun! Safety Harbor Recreation, who we are and what we offer to the community!
Harborites, we would like to officially introduce ourselves to you! You may have seen us around at 3rd Fridays in our lovely tye-dye t-shirts, or visited us at one of our facilities for some dance lessons, Mah Jongg, summer camps or field trips. You may have wondered, “What exactly is “R.E.A.L. Fun! Safety Harbor?” Well, we are the Recreation, Events, Arts, and Leisure of Safety Harbor. We are the Parks and Recreation department; we are your Community Center, Rigsby Center, and now Safety Harbor Museum and Cultural Center. We maintain over 10 parks, the marina, and have been serving the community since 1982.
We have made it our mission to increase the quality of life through parks, events, recreation and play for residents and visitors. We have made “It Starts In Parks” not only one of our initiatives, but a motto for our departments. Coaching, Connecting, and Community are the core values of parks and recreation. We coach for activities and for life; connect to our environment and our history; and focus on our community for investment and enrichment.
You can find us at every 3rd Friday in front of the Gazebo, on the morning news at Safety Harbor Elementary, in the parks, and if you still can’t get enough of us you can find us at the Community Center on 9th Avenue South, the Rigsby Center on 2nd Street North, and the Museum and Cultural Center on Bayshore Boulevard South. We offer classes for toddlers, teens, seniors and in-betweens! We have football and basketball leagues, lunch, day, and adventure trips for adults, volunteer opportunities, and too-many-to-count free events for all of our residents and visitors to get out and about. We encourage you to find out more about us by checking out our R.E.A.L. brochure, liking us on Facebook, or coming out to one of our events!
