Safety Harbor looks like a quiet Florida town. It isn’t. Silent Slayer Ghost Tours won Best Tour in the St. Pete-Clearwater Area at Visit St. Pete-Clearwater’s 2026 Besties Awards. Founder Cynthia Dominick is the Safety Harbor Chamber’s 2026 Tourism Person of the Year, and the tour holds a 4.9-star Google rating from more than 280 reviews.
Cynthia is a certified tour guide and professional paranormal investigator. Her 90-minute walking tour of historic downtown Safety Harbor covers the stories most locals have never heard: a hanging tree, a devastating fire, a murder tied to a possible brothel, a daring bank robbery, and a former funeral home where more than 9,000 bodies passed through.
Since 2021, Cynthia has documented a firetruck phenomenon at City Hall. It happens before the tour, during it and after it, even on nights she isn’t in town. You can draw your own conclusions.
The tour stops at History Hall inside the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa and ends with a hands-on ghost hunting sampler at the Elf Tree, using dowsing rods, spirit boxes, cat balls and the flashlight experiment.
No costumes. No actors. Just one raccoon that once jumped out from behind the Elf Tree and made Cynthia swear in front of the whole group.
