Lines, Rains Let Up Around Noon on Election Day

While steady rain and long lines combined to make early morning voting a difficult experience for some, by midafternoon Tuesday the skies had cleared and the lines have disappeared at local precincts in Safety Harbor.

Up on McMullen Booth Road, the voting process took approximately 10 to 20 minutes at the Kapok Special Events Center (Precincts 607 and 608), Cypress Meadows Community Church (Precinct 612) and Espirito Santo Catholic Church (Precinct 614), according to voters.

"The line was a bit long, maybe 8 to 10 people right before lunch, but then they moved everybody right in," Safety Harbor resident Nancy Spanish said outside of Precinct 614.

"It took about 10 minutes to vote. This is the quickest it's ever taken me, so it was nice."

Over at the Kapok Special Events Center the story was pretty much the same — long lines early gave way to speedy voting by noon.

"It was very easy, the easiest I can remember," Clearwater's Donna Slover said from the McMulleen Booth precinct.

"They need better signage though," her husband, Ray, added. "We couldn't find this place at first."
