Safety Harbor Seed Library Seeking Seed Donations from Gardners

The Safety Harbor Public Library, with the help of dedicated volunteers from Common Ground Community Garden in Safety Harbor, is starting a Seed Library to nurture our thriving community of local gardeners and to share access to free seeds.  This project was developed to support gardeners of all levels through the process of seed saving to encourage gardening in our City.

We are seeking donations of saved seeds from your plants or from your leftover commercial seed packets.  Seeds can be dropped off at the Library in envelopes with other required information which can be found on the Seed Library website: http://www.safetyharborseedlibrary.weebly.com/ Please no seeds over a year old.

The Story of Seven Seeds:  A few seeds didn't seem like a lot when a friend shared some of her kale seeds with me; little did I know the power of a seed. I poked the seeds into the ground, watered, and waited. It was exciting to see how nature grew the seedling into large plants full of kale leaves. There was enough kale for my family, the neighbors, friends and a few passerby's for several months. Kale was such a nutritious addition to our diet but I think it tasted so good because I grew it myself, with the help of a friend that shared seven seeds.  - Karen Errico
