The accident happened near University Parkway Thursday morning.

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 near University Parkway on Thursday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Volvo driven by Frederick Guinard, 66, of Seffner and a Ford F-150, driven by Ricardo Gonzalez, 56, of Englewood were heading north in the right lane just before 8 a.m. A third vehicle, a Cadillac, driven by Thomas Nieden, 56, of Sarasota was also in the right lane, head of the other two.

Nieden, troopers wrote in a report, stopped for traffic ahead. Guinard saw traffic was slowing and attempted to stop. He, however, was unable to and struck the rear of Gonzalez’s vehicle, forcing it to collide with the rear of Nieden’s vehicle, the report said.
