2 Seriously Injured When Van Towing Trailer Overturns On FL Highway

SARASOTA, FL — Two people were seriously injured when their van, which was towing a trailer, overturned Monday afternoon on Interstate 75 in the Sarasota area, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The single-vehicle crash happened just before 3 p.m. near mile marker 207.

When the van swerved in the highway’s right lane, it caused the trailer to sway. As the driver, a 48-year-old Bradenton man, tried to regain control, the van went off the road to the right, FHP said.

The van overturned on the right shoulder and came to a stop facing west.

Both the driver and his passenger, a 31-year-old Bradenton woman, were brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash is under investigation, FHP said.
