52-Acre Brush Fire Contained Along I-75: Fire Officials
Fire crews contained a 52-acre brush fire along Interstate 75 in Sarasota County, North Port fire officials said.

NORTH PORT, FL — A 52-acre brush fire that broke out Monday afternoon off Interstate 75 was contained by crews by about 7:45 p.,m., North Port Fire Rescue wrote in a social media post.
Firefighters began battling the blaze in the area of North Yorkshire Boulevard and Blueleaf Drive, on the eastern side of the city, around 2 p.m.
The fire shut down all lanes of the interstate, which later reopened.

Drivers could see smoke while traveling through the area as the fire was active, NPFR said.
There were no injuries or threats to homes in the area, though residual smoke might affect that part of the city.

Crews were at the scene overnight mopping and cleaning up, officials said.
