A Cozy, Comfortable Café in Citrus Square

Citrus Square is an up and coming part of the Rosemary District. With newly developed condos, some retail shops, and a couple of quality restaurants, this area is becoming an off-Main Street destination for dining.

The definition of café can be somewhat subjective covering a range from basic coffee shop to higher end casual food establishment. For me a café must have these attributes: Clean, fresh décor, casually comfortable, simple yet appetizing menu with fresh home made items, pastries, fresh baked goods, and of course great coffee. The Savory Street International Café and Bakery, located in Citrus Square, provides all of this.

With the combination of wood, glass, high ceilings, a corner location in a newly constructed building, outdoor and indoor seating, the Savory Street has a contemporary feel with an “old world” overtone; well balanced. The menu is what one would expect: baked goods, soups, salads, quiche and sandwiches that are prepared fresh daily. For our meals we chose the following:

  • Genoa Salami on Ciabatta: Sliced Genoa salami and provolone cheese are served on artisan Ciabatta bread- topped with roasted red pepper coulis, crisp lettuce, and tomatoes. $6.95
    • Fresh crusty bread, simply presented, just the right portion size; not too big nor small.
  • Asparagus, spinach and ricotta quiche: Baked in a freshly made puff pastry, served by the slice with a small field green salad. $5.85
    • A nice sized slice of quiche with a flaky crust and a blend of flavor; perfect amount.
  • Back to Grandma’s Chicken Soup:  Fresh chicken, rich chicken broth, vegetables and rice come together in harmony to bring great memories with this homey soup, just like grandma made it. $3.75
    • A great value!  And delicious!  Bowl filled with tasty chicken and veggies.  Comes with a side of homemade bread.
  • Mediterranean Chicken Salad on Parisian Croissant: Seasoned chicken salad with cumin, coriander and a pinch of curry - then we toss in sunflower seeds and celery and serve it on our specially made “croissant bread”. $7.95
    • A very nice combination of flavors, textures, and tastes. This chicken salad aficionado thought it was excellent!
  • Fresh Seasonal Fruit: $4.50
    • A simple presentation of berries and melon. Fresh and flavorful.
  • Cinnamon Crunch Pastry: $1.95
    • A sinful treat, full of butter, cinnamon and sugar. The texture is both crunchy and smooth. Simply delicious.

The Savory Street offers a wide selection of soft drinks, coffee and tea to accompany your meal. The staff is friendly, attentive, quick, and efficient.
