SARASOTA, FL — Popular soft-serve ice cream franchise Carvel has a new Florida location coming soon.
The brand will open an ice cream shop at 8382 South Tamiami Trail in Pelican Plaza, according to Carvel’s website.
The location passed its restaurant inspection and is expected to open in the coming days, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported.
The shop will offer soft and scooped ice cream, a range of toppings, shakes, Sundae Dashers, take-home treats and ice cream cakes, all made fresh, the website said.
This is the first of four Sarasota locations that Carvel franchisee Bobby Enrico plans to open over the next four years, the Herald-Tribune said.
"I'm originally from New Jersey, which is where I knew Carvel from," he said. "When I retired out of the car business after 25 years, I was still a little too young to retire completely. So we decided to franchise with a brand that's recognizable and influential."
Founded in 1934, Carvel has 370 locations across the U.S., including 32 in Florida.
