4. Sarasota Jungle Gardens has big hopes for its cohabitating crocodiles (yourobserver.com) — Sarasota Jungle Gardens is carefully pairing two American crocodiles, Dominic and Kananga, in hopes they’ll eventually produce offspring and boost public awareness of this threatened species. Staff have spent months gradually introducing the reptiles in a new shared pool, observing courtship behavior but no nesting yet. 5. Exhibition at the Sarasota Art Museum uses shadows to explore the way identity changes based on experiences (wgcu.org) — Sarasota residents can explore identity, culture, and shadow at “Penumbra,” a vibrant textile exhibition by Maria A. Guzmán Capron now on view at Sarasota Art Museum through Sept. 27.
