Eddie is a native Floridian. He has been singing and playing piano since he was eight years old. Attending the University of Miami, Eddie was in the Studio Music and Jazz Piano program. He entertained around the country and on cruise ships. He spent 15 great years in Nashville accompanying the Forester Sisters, who opened for Kenny Rogers, and traveling with Brenda Lee. For seven and a half years, Eddie was music director, pianist, conductor and arranger for Engelbert Humperdinck. While attending a Eddie Tobin show you will hear jazz, blues, standards, ragtime, classical, pop, calypso and country music. People will enjoy his renditions of songs by Jimmy Buffett, Leon Russell, Ray Charles and Johnny Cash.

Hailing from Siberia, classical saxophonist Valentin Kovalev is an ebullient and highly eclectic performer whose unique style was developed after studying in Russia, France, and the United States. Winner of multiple prestigious international competitions, Kovalev gave a sold-out debut recital at Carnegie Hall during the 2023-24 season. His work is driven by his love of fostering connections, exemplified by his vast community on social media, and he has committed support to Ukrainian saxophonists and other marginalized voices in the classical music world. Joined by Joseph Holt on piano, Kovalev’s program includes music by Bach, Rachmaninoff, Bizet, and Piazzolla. Jackson, Thursday, April 30, 6:30pm: Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright, composer, and Hermitage Fellow Michael R. Jackson exploded into the public consciousness with the premiere of his celebrated musical A Strange Loop, which transferred to Broadway after an acclaimed run at Playwrights Horizons. The New York Times described Jackson’s work as “so unexpected, contrarian, and maximalist that I spend a lot of time between them wondering what he’ll do next” – so if you’re in the audience at this Hermitage program, you might just get a ‘sneak peek’ of what that will be! A returning Hermitage Fellow, Jackson has previously shared selections from A Strange Loop and his musical White Girl in Danger with Hermitage audiences. In an effort to support mental wellness and reduce the stigma of seeking help, nonprofit organization Sunshine From Darkness has announced its 2026 “Step Into the Light Mental Health Summit.” The event – which costs $25, including all sessions and lunch – takes place on Saturday, May 2, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at Mote SEA (Science Education Aquarium), located at 225 University Town Center Drive, near Nathan Benderson Park. The Summit, purposefully scheduled during Mental Health Awareness Month, is designed to empower attendees with practical coping skills, tools to support mental wellness in our community, and inspiration to break the stigma surrounding mental illness. Mental health practitioners, those working in a mental health-adjacent field, or individuals whose life has been impacted by mental illness – their own or a loved one - are especially encouraged to attend. This year’s Summit will center on the shared human experiences that shape our emotional wellbeing — grief, trauma, family challenges, and the everyday stressors that impact our mental health. Through speaker sessions on mindfulness, coping skills, interactive experiences, and the healing power of music therapy, the summit will create a safe, inclusive space for individuals and families to learn, connect, and strengthen their resilience. Keynote speakers will be Johnny Crowder, a suicide and abuse survivor, touring musician, certified Peer Recovery Specialist, public advocate for mental health awareness, and founder of Cope Notes; and Jerod Ward, a former professional basketball player, TEDx and motivational speaker, college basketball analyst for networks including ESPN and Fox Sports, and founder of JW Global Speaks, LLC.
