SARASOTA, FL — University Town Center in Sarasota announced that 12 new shops and restaurants are coming soon as the retail and dining hub continues to expand.
The additions will total more than 86,000 square feet across several parts of the property off Interstate 75 and University Parkway, UTC said.
Among the biggest additions is West Elm, which is under construction adjacent to L.L. Bean in The West District at UTC. The 18,000-square-foot store will sell furniture, decor, lighting, textiles and home essentials, according to the announcement. This will be the brand’s eighth location in Florida.
IKEA also is set to open later this summer in The West District near REI. UTC said the store will be the global brand’s sixth Florida location and will carry more than 5,000 products for immediate purchase, plus more than 100 small furniture items. Larger pieces, including sofas, beds and appliances, can be ordered in store for delivery or pickup. The location also will include a Swedish Bite cafe.
Other additions include Body Hot Pilates, a 2,200-square-foot studio along the Cattlemen corridor next to New Balance, and LaserAway, a 1,700-square-foot location near Club Champion at The Market at UTC.
At The Square at UTC, construction is underway on a 6,000-square-foot expansion next to F45 Training for Pure Hockey.
UTC also said several food concepts are on the way. Mister 01 | Extraordinary Pizza is expected to open this summer next to Mission BBQ in The Market at UTC. Just Salad will open next door, while Pure Green is coming near Pure Barre.
Playa Bowls is planned in The West District along University Parkway near Chipotle, and Zen Dumpling is coming to The Shoppes at UTC near Marshalls.
At The Mall at UTC, James Avery Artisan Jewelry will open on the second level near Hollister, and ScandyCandy is planned for a ground-level location.
Dick’s House of Sport is already under construction there, UTC added.
The shopping destination also recently added Kitchen Social and Blu Kouzina.
UTC, developed by Benderson, is on the Sarasota-Manatee county line and spans more than 4 million square feet. It includes more than 250 specialty stores, more than 80 restaurants, three hotels and more than 250,000 square feet of Class A office space.
