SARASOTA, FL — A 23-year-old man reported missing off Siesta Key Beach on Tuesday night was found safe the next day at a busy Sarasota intersection, authorities said.
Deputies received a 911 call just before 10:30 a.m. from a witness who saw the man enter the water and never return to shore, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said.
His personal items were found on the beach, and deputies searched the surrounding beach area and water, but didn’t find him.
The search was suspended for the night and resumed the next morning.
The missing man was then found safe on Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of Beneva and Clark roads, the sheriff’s office said.
