NORTH PORT, FL — Local grocery chain Detwiler’s Farm Market plans to open its seventh store at the end of 2028, the company said in a news release.
The new store is being built in North Port at 5001 N. Sumter Blvd.
This will be Detwiler’s first location built entirely from the ground up, the company said.
It will also be its southernmost location and its largest location to date.
Detwiler’s said customers have frequently asked the company to move farther south into the North Port area, one of the fastest-growing communities in Southwest Florida.
“Our customers have been asking us for years to come to North Port,” Henry Detwiler Sr., founder of Detwiler’s Farm Market, said. “We’re excited to finally bring our farm market experience to this community. This location is especially meaningful because it allows us to design and build from the ground up, creating our largest store yet and an experience that truly reflects who we are.”
His son, Sam Detwiler, said the project is a major step for the company.
“This is a big step forward for us,” he said. “North Port is growing quickly, and we’re looking forward to growing alongside it — bringing our quality, value and unique shopping experience to even more families.”
The new store will include its full range of departments, including fresh produce, deli, bakery, seafood, meat and grocery items.
The larger footprint will allow for expanded offerings, an enhanced layout and a more immersive farm market shopping experience.
