VENICE, FL — A Venice man was sentenced to more than 92 years in prison after being convicted of 83 counts of possessing child sexual abuse material, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Salvatore Giunta, 58, was sentenced Friday to 92.75 years in prison, the agency said.
The SCSO Internet Crimes Against Children Unit began investigating the transmission and possession of child sexual abuse material in January 2024.
Detectives identified Giunta as a suspect and executed a search warrant at his Venice residence in April 2024, the sheriff's office said.
Giunta was initially charged with 40 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material.
After detectives found thousands of additional images and videos containing child sexual abuse material during the investigation, prosecutors filed an additional 43 counts against him, the sheriff's office said.
He was convicted on all 83 counts in March.
