Sarasota police officers recount saving people from burning motel (wfla.com) — Sarasota police officers rushed door-to-door at the Cadillac Motel on North Tamiami Trail to evacuate guests as a weekend fire spread through one of the building's seven units and into the attic. Body camera footage shows officers urging reluctant occupants to flee; only one person was hospitalized at Sarasota Memorial with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sarasota BMX to Host Final Rounds of 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Cup (srqmagazine.com) — Sarasota BMX will host the final two rounds of the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Cup on October 31 and November 1, the series' only U.S. stop. The event will bring elite international BMX racers and fans to Sarasota, showcasing the local track and boosting attention for this fast-growing Olympic cycling discipline in Sarasota County.
