Sarasota man sentenced to 8 years in VFW attempted arson (yourobserver.com) β A Sarasota resident has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for attempting to firebomb a war memorial outside a VFW post on Tuttle Avenue, after a passing Sarasota police officer spotted the blaze. Investigators from Sarasota Police, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office and federal agents tied him to a Molotov cocktail that failed to fully ignite near the tank display.

Rooted Recovery Suncoast Brings Peer Support and Narcan to the Streets of Sarasota and Manatee Counties β WENG 98.1FM, 107.5 FM & 1530 AM (wengradio.com) β People in Sarasota now have a new kind of help for addiction, as Rooted Recovery Suncoast teams under NAMI Sarasota and Manatee Counties bring Narcan, supplies, and peer support directly to bus stops and homeless gathering spots. Staff and volunteers with lived experience aim to build trust quickly, and residents can seek support or get involved as volunteers through the program.
