Libby's Legacy Scholarships awarded to Girls Inc Girls of the Year

Honoring the family matriach, Libby, for which Libby’s Café + Bar is named, the Seidensticker family and partners of Libby’s Café + Bar established the Libby’s Legacy Scholarship Program in 2012. This year’s recipients, honored at the recent Girls Inc of Sarasota Celebration Luncheon, included 2012 Girl of the Year, Shayla Brown and 2013 Girl of the Year, Zandy Sanders.

Designed to help those with financial need and demonstrated commitment to pursuing a higher education and provide for living expenses while at college, the scholarships are renewed and given annually to each recipient for up to four years of college.  This was the second annual scholarship award for Brown and the first for Sanders.

“Girls Inc Sarasota’s Girl of the Year program provides a wonderful platform for young women to gain confidence, knowledge and real-life experiences that are integral in their development,” said Steve Seidensticker, one of the partners of Libby’s Café + Bar.  “Shayla and Zandy epitomize the type of commitment that Libby’s Legacy Scholarship program aspires to support and we also believe that an important part of attending college is to be able to have some financial resources to have fun. We hope to grow opportunities to assist other individuals in the future,” he added.
