[June 1, 2013 — Sarasota, Fla.] The Bijou Café chef/owner Jean-Pierre Knaggs unveiled several changes to the downtown mainstay’s lunch menu today, adding more than 10 new items for summer. Southern fried chicken, an open face grilled veggie sandwich, and a “spa style” fish du jour are highlights of the new menu focusing on offering greater variety for diners. Many of the new selections were created or are easily modified to meet all types of dietary restrictions, including gluten free and low fat.
“I’ve wanted to add some new and unique things to our menu for a while, and the summertime seemed like the perfect time to try them out.” said Knaggs. “We also brought back some Bijou favorites, including our famous Jambalaya. Guest have been asking for it for years so everyone is welcome to come try it! ”
The Bijou Café is also part of Savor Sarasota. From June 1 to 14, different restaurants around Sarasota will be offering a three-course meal for just $15 per person for lunch and $29 per person for dinner. The Bijou Café has also created their own deal called “Summer in the City”, a three course lunch or dinner, changing weekly which showcases different chef specialties.

The Bijou Café is a charming Continental-American restaurant located in the heart of Sarasota’s downtown Theatre & Arts District and known for specialties such as their Australian Rack of Lamb, the Bijou Pepper Steak and Pommes Gratin Dauphinois.
Since 1986, Chef Jean-Pierre Knaggs and wife Shay have owned and operated The Bijou, growing it from a small 50-seat restaurant to a seating capacity of 140 people in three separate dining rooms and the garden.
