Armed Robber Returned to Complain About Fake Gold, Cops Say
The Miami man was brought into custody shortly after lodging a complaint with his alleged victim.
It’s often said that criminals like to return to the scenes of their crimes. They just don’t normally do so within minutes of the act. Nor are they often known for returning simply to complain about the quality of items they’re accused of stealing.
That, however, is exactly what police in Miami say happened in the South Beach area April 30. A 26-year-old man is accused of holding up a group of people on South Beach’s Ocean Drive. The man is accused of producing a gun and ripping a gold chain off one of the victim’s necks, Local 10 reported.
With loot in hand, the man fled. The very same man returned moments later driving a white Mercedes-Benz, the Miami New Times reported. Rather than try to hit up the victims for any valuables they had left, he came to complain the chain he swiped was faked, the publication noted.

Startled, the chain’s owner ran toward 10th Street and flagged down passing police officers, Local 10 said. Police ended up in a chase with the Mercedes, but ended up bringing the man into custody a short time later.
Daniel Palmer remained in the Miami-Dade County Jail Friday without bond., jail records indicate He’s been charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon and fleeing and eluding. It seems he also had warrants out for reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.
