As he walked closer to her, he showed her “a sharp edge weapon” and demanded that she hand over her iPhone, according to Burstein’s probable cause affidavit. She handed it over and then he asked for her phone’s password and her purse.
When she refused and tried to leave, he grabbed her around the waist with one hand and pressed the weapon against her chest, police said. She screamed, pulled away and ran to the park office area, where she called 911.

The victim’s phone later pinged in the area of Swift Road and Proctor Road. A Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office deputy spoke with a clerk at the 7-11 at 4779 Swift Road, who said that a person matching the suspect’s description had been in the store. The clerk shared video surveillance of the suspect with the deputy.
Using the image, investigators were able to identify Burstein and the victim picked him out in a photo line-up, police said.
