Bicyclist Sexually Assaulted in Centennial Park

Residents in the area are being asked to exercise caution.

The Sarasota Police Department is searching for a man it says sexually assaulted a bicyclist on the northern edge of Centennial Park Wednesday evening.

According to the agency, the woman was riding her bike on the sidewalk around 7 p.m. near the 10th Street boat ramp parking lot when a man pulled her from her bike. The man proceeded to drag her to the northern wood line where he is accused of sexually assaulting her.

Police say their suspect is a dark-skinned black male between the age of 30 and 40. He is about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and has a very thin build.

Police are asking residents who live near the boat ramp and visitors to the area to be on the lookout for anyone or anything suspicious.
