Body Floating Near O’Leary’s Tiki Bar Identified: Sarasota Police

Sarasota police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old man whose body was found floating in the water near Bayfront Park.

SARASOTA, FL — Authorities have identified the man whose body was found floating near Bayfront Park last week, according to a news release from Sarasota police.

Daniel D. Flowers, 31, was found floating in the area of 5 Bayfront Drive, which is the address for O’Leary’s Tiki Bar & Grill, on Sept. 8 just after 6:15 p.m. He was pronounced dead after officers arrived to the scene.

Police say his death is an isolated incident and there’s no threat to the public.

Investigators also don’t believe foul play is involved, but the investigation remains active. His cause of death will be determined by the District 12 Medical Examiner’s Office.

Anyone who saw Flowers before his death or who has information about where he frequents is asked to call Detective Steven Fergus with SPD’s Criminal Investigations Division at 941-263-6059.
