SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Brian Laundrie's parents were concerned for the wellbeing of his fiancée, Gabby Petito, days after he made multiple phone calls to the couple following Petito's death by strangulation during a cross-country trip in 2021, Fox 13 reported Tuesday.

North Port residents Christopher and Roberta Laundrie initially denied knowing Petito had been killed in Wyoming during the summer trip, and said they did not know the couple had started their cross-country journey, the outlet reported.

Brian Laundrie and Petito had been living in Florida with his parents.

However, Fox 13 reported they confessed to being worried for Petito's welfare during recent court depositions.

A frantic Brian Laundrie called his parents up to 20 times two days after Petito's death. During the calls, the 23-year-old told his parents that Petito was “gone” and he needed a lawyer, Patch previously reported.

"I just know from the tone of Chris's voice, it was something serious," Roberta Laundrie told her attorney, Pat Reilly.

After Brian's calls, his parents asked another attorney, Steve Bertolino, to send their son $25,000 so he could retain a Wyoming-based law firm, but the Laundries maintained in court that they did not know what had happened to Petito at the time.

"If she just left and walked away, do you think he would have needed an attorney for that?" Reilly asked.

"It was – it was a situation of how frantic he was," Christopher Laundrie replied in his deposition, according to DFox 13. "I had no idea what to think. He asked me to get a lawyer, and I couldn't get any more information from him."

"Did that lead you to believe he murdered Gabby?" the lawyer asked.

"No," Christopher Laundrie replied.

Brian Laundrie took his own life in September 2021, shooting himself in the head in a Sarasota County park.
