Steve Arvey will share the rich tones of handcrafted cigar box guitars. He will discuss the history of these instruments as well as his travels around the world to seek out builders and new sounds. With over 50 years of experience in the music business, Arvey brings a lifetime of passion and authenticity to every performance. This session will feature a performance along with a brief description of how to build your own instrument.

We’ll begin by focusing on our intentions, amplifying them with the frequencies of a quartz crystal singing bowl and the powerful energy of the new moon. As the soothing vibrations of singing bowls, handpan, Earth gong, and vibrations&nbsp;wash over you, you’ll sink into a state of deep relaxation.

Eddie is a native Floridian. He has been singing and playing piano since he was eight years old. Attending the University of Miami, Eddie was in the Studio Music and Jazz Piano program. He entertained around the country and on cruise ships. He spent 15 great years in Nashville accompanying the Forester Sisters, who opened for Kenny Rogers, and traveling with Brenda Lee. For seven and a half years, Eddie was music director, pianist, conductor and arranger for Engelbert Humperdinck. While attending a Eddie Tobin show you will hear jazz, blues, standards, ragtime, classical, pop, calypso and country music. People will enjoy his renditions of songs by Jimmy Buffett, Leon Russell, Ray Charles and Johnny Cash.

The paintings and sculptures within the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall were created by noted Florida artists and are on loan from Arts Advocates. During this tour, a docent will guide you through the paintings and sculptures including those by Robert Chase, William Hartman, Eugene White, Ben Stahl, Julio de Diego, Thornton Utz, Frank Colson, Dean Mitchell, and more. Then you will step onto the stage where a Van Wezel guide will give you a peek behind the curtain to learn about the many hands that create the Van Wezel's shows and hear stories and anecdotes about the colorful world of show business.
Tours cost $15 per person and begin in the main lobby and. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Van Wezel box office Monday–Friday 10 a.m.–4 p.m. or by calling (941) 263-6799. Private group tours can be arranged by calling (941) 955-7676. Proceeds benefit Arts Advocates and the Van Wezel's education/outreach programs.

Night Jazz at the Court Cabaret presents La Lucha, a Tampa Bay based trio that features bassist Alejandro Arenas, pianist John O’Leary and drummer Mark Feinman. Winners of Creative Loafing’s best jazz ensemble Monday six times, La Lucha, in addition to being featured at local area festivals, has performed at international festivals in Spain and Italy. They recently recorded their eighth CD. One of the trio's previously released CD, "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" (Arbors Records), was produced by world renowned clarinetist, Ken Peplowski, featuring guest musicians; Houston Person, Chuck Redd, Ken Peplowski, Melissa Aldana and Diego Figueiredo.
