Alejandro Arenas received this year's Al Downing Jazz Association Jazz Musician of the Year award. A well deserved honor for one of the Bay area's all around musicians; writer, arranger, producer, educator, and contributor to all. For Monday Night Jazz, Alejandro Arenas leads a dynamic quartet celebrating iconic Jazz classics written by legendary bassists and Hispanic composers. This program features original arrangements of Bob Haggard’s “What’s New”, Sam Jones’ “Unit 7”, Juan Tizol’s “Caravan”, Maria Grever’s “What a Difference a Day Made” and more compositions by some of the unsung heroes that have helped shape Jazz into a beautifully diverse art form.
