Cats Rescued from Hoarding Case Now Up for Adoption at Cat Depot

Thirty-three cats rescued last month from a North Port hoarding case are now available for adoption at Cat Depot. The feline-only rescue and adoption center located in Sarasota has announced the rescued cats have been given clean bills of health and will be available for adoption beginning Thursday, May 17 at 2 p.m.

As part of Cat Depot’s ongoing emergency response efforts, Sarasota County Animal Services transferred 37 cats to Cat Depot on April 18. Like all cats entering the shelter, the rescued animals underwent full veterinary exams in addition to receiving needed vaccinations, behavioral evaluations, and being spayed or neutered.

“Our dedicated medical staff and cat care team have worked tirelessly this last month to prepare the cats for their big day,” said Diana de Veer, director of operations & medical services at Cat Depot. “Since the cats' arrival, our team has done everything possible to stabilize and address each cat’s medical and emotional needs.”

The remaining four cats, a mom with three kittens, are currently in foster care until the kittens are old enough to be weaned. At that time, they will all be spayed or neutered and placed up for adoption.
