Cops Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Residents who have encounters with Sarasota’s finest during the month of October might notice something amiss with their badges.

There’s no cause for alarm, however. Those shiny pink shields are being rolled out in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. During the entire month, Sarasota Police Officers who choose to do so can trade in their regular badges for solid pink copies or simply wear a pink band across their standard-issue badge.

The agency explained on its website the move is meant to “show support for women and men fighting breast cancer and (to) remember those who have passed away.”
