Deputies: Man Listed 'Drug Dealer' As Job on Arrest Report

As it turns out, he was in possession of 22 grams of heroin and 5.3 grams of crack cocaine.

Honesty is generally the best policy, but how much weight it will carry with a judge remains to be seen for a 25-year-old West Palm Beach man.

Deputies in West Palm Beach County say Robert Phillips listed his occupation as “drug dealer” on an arrest report following an unusual chain of events on Tuesday, TBO.com reported.

The incident that led to Phillips’ alleged admission began to unfold as he was driving a Hyundai and cut off a detective in an unmarked car, nearly causing a crash, the website reported.

A check of records revealed the car Phillips was driving had been reported as stolen, the website reported. The detective followed Phillips and watched as he conducted a drug transaction.

At that point, marked patrol cars arrived on the scene, but Phillips reportedly fled, the Palm Beach Post reported. He pulled into a Michaels craft store parking lot, bailed out of the car. He then ran inside the store, knocking a woman down along the way and dropping a loaded handgun in the process, the Post reported.

When deputies finally caught up with Phillips they found him in possession of 22 grams of heroin, more than $2,000 in cash and 5.3 grams of crack cocaine, among other illegal items, both news sites reported.

Palm Beach County jail records indicate Phillips is no stranger to the facility. He’s been arrested numerous times and has faced seven felony convictions.

Phillips’ most recent arrest includes such charges as heroin trafficking, possession of a weapon by a violent career criminal, cocaine possession and resisting an officer. He was being held in lieu of more than $200,000 bond as of Friday morning.
