Deputy Sent Explicit Texts To DUI Suspect In Venice: Report

A Sarasota County Sheriff's Office deputy was fired for sexually harassing a DUI suspect, reports said.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A deputy with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office was fired following an internal investigation into allegations that he sexually harassed a woman suspected of driving under the influence, according to multiple reports.

Deputy Michael McMahan first met the woman in June when he arrested her for a DUI, according to ABC 7. He called her the next day and began sending sexually explicit photos to her.

He continued to contact her for four months and she saved all messages from the deputy.

The investigation into his sexual advances on her began Oct. 3, when the woman was arrested and charged with domestic battery, WFLA reported. She told law enforcement that she was only arrested because she turned down McMahan’s advances.

He was fired by SCSO after a month-long internal affairs investigation for inappropriate conduct and a misuse of agency resources, the North Port Sun said.
