Dollar Dynasty will continue its school supply giveway!

Dollar Dynasty, a Sarasota non-profit charity, would like to thank the community for its generosity. The response has been amazing. Special thanks go to the Tillie Jennie and Harold Schwartz Foundation, the Masala Giving Circle of the Community Foundation and A Louis Parker from the Visible Men Academy. Your generosity and support have been much appreciated.

This year Dollar Dynasty sent 34 students to summer camps. The children, whose ages ranged from 6 to 17, attended local camps where they participated in sports, arts and crafts, field trips, and other group activities. More importantly they were able to interact in a supervised environment.

Dollar Dynasty has also been able to equip more than 200 children with needed school supplies, allowing them to start school with the necessary equipment. The money donated also will help to supply free replacement school supplies for all grades through the rest of the school year. Victoria Brown, head of Dollar Dynasty, will continue the school supply giveaway. Supplies will be distributed most Saturdays from 10 to 2 at the Dollar Dynasty Office, 1922 MLK Jr Way, Sarasota. Thanks are also due to the many volunteers from the community, especially three volunteers from Guyana, Brenda Moore, Arlene Dohaan and Calverl Hall, who helped sort and distribute the supplies into the children’s eager hands.

Victoria Brown was also honored recently by the Greater Hurst Community Chapel for her many contributions to the Newtown community of Sarasota. She received a special award during their annual Women’s Day celebration.

Subsisting on donations, hard work, and a desire to make a difference, Dollar Dynasty has met the needs of its community for 15 years. It gives assistance to more than 800 people each month. It has provided critical humanitarian aid and community outreach programs to low and fixed income families through a variety of services. It provides families with basic life needs, such as food, clothing, and educational supplies. For children, they offer summer camps, educational programs, field trips, school supplies and holiday toy drives.

Dollar Dynasty does not receive city, county or federal funding. All the nonprofit’s donations, proceeds and scholarships come from local businesses, organizations, citizens and through its Community Store sales. The staff are all unpaid volunteers.
