Dumpster Diving 'Bandits' No Match for Sarasota Deputies

The masked 'criminals' were caught red-handed on Monday.

When Sarasota deputies responded to a Monday morning call about unusual activity outside an office complex little did they know they’d find themselves on the trail of four stealthy masked bandits.

While the commotion coming from inside a dumpster on the property made it clear someone was up to no good, they weren’t quite sure what they were up against until they peered inside. One peek was all it took for them to know it was imperative to bring the ā€œperpetratorsā€ into custody. After all, they’d been caught red-handed in the act of looting.

The scene could have been an ugly one, but the four masked bandits ā€œkept their cool,ā€ the sheriff’s office wrote on its Facebook page.

Rather than go through the rigmarole of booking them into the Sarasota County Jail, deputies opted to release them on their own recognizance. With a little help from Animal Services Officer Mondulick, the four rascally raccoons ā€œagreed to be relocated to a grassy area nearby.ā€
