FL GOP Chair's Rape Accuser Was 'Terrified' Of Him, Warrant Reveals
Gov. Ron DeSantis has called for the resignation of Florida GOP chair Christian Ziegler after he was accused of sexual battery this week.

SARASOTA, FL — A newly-unsealed search warrant revealed the woman who this week accused Florida GOP leader Christian Ziegler of sexual battery and rape knew him for more than 20 years and was "terrified" of him, according to a Politico report.
The search warrant affidavit, obtained by Politico from the Florida Center for Government Accountability, provided additional details about the investigation into the chairman of the Republican Party of Florida and former Sarasota County commissioner. The contents of the affidavit were first reported by the Orlando Sentinel.
Earlier this week, the Florida Center for Government Accountability confirmed Ziegler was under investigation for sexual battery. No charges have been filed.

According to the agency's report, Ziegler's accuser claimed she was involved in an ongoing three-way sexual relationship with both Christian and his wife, Bridget Ziegler, Sarasota County school board member and Moms for Liberty co-founder.
The incident under investigation happened when the GOP chairman and the accuser were alone at her house without his wife, FCGA said.

According to the search warrant, the victim initially agreed to meet Ziegler on the day of the assault because she thought Bridget Ziegler would be joining them. She canceled when she learned Bridget Ziegler wouldn’t be there, Politico reported.
According to the report, Ziegler went to her house anyway, entered her home and had sex with her without a condom. The woman later told a relative she was raped, and that the incident left her "distraught," the report said.
According to the search warrant, Bridget Ziegler also acknowledged to authorities that she, her husband and the victim had consensual sex together a year before the alleged crime occurred.
Earlier this week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis called on Ziegler to resign.
“He’s innocent till proven guilty, but we just can’t have a party chair that is under that type of scrutiny,” DeSantis told reporters Tuesday night after appearing with California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Fox News, according to a transcript provided by the DeSantis campaign. “The mission is more important.”
DeSantis said Ziegler and his wife Bridget have been friends, but the allegations are too serious for Ziegler to stay in the position.
In an email obtained by Peter Schorsch, publisher of Florida Politics, Ziegler told other party members he has no plans to resign.
“From Congressmen, state elected leaders, prominent social conservative leaders and county party leaders, I have been overwhelmed by the amount of support that has been sent my way. It is impossible to fully understand how appreciative I am of those conversations,” Ziegler wrote.
