Florida Man Hid in Connecticut Snowbank to Avoid Arrest, Cops Say

A K-9 was more than happy to dig him out, officials noted.

A Florida man on the run from the law tried to outsmart police in Ridgefield, Conn., by burying himself inside a snowbank last weekend.

The ploy might have worked if not for the Ridgefield Police Department’s K-9 Loki, according to the Danbury News Times. It seems the adamant four-legged officer not only tracked down the suspect, who was armed with a switchblade knife, but also extended the courtesy of digging him out, the paper reported.

The chase for the man began in Westchester County, New York, where police there wanted the man on outstanding warrants, NBC reported. Authorities from New York gave Connecticut police the heads up as their pursuit neared state lines.

In addition to recovering the suspect, Loki is credited with helping sniff out 3.5 grams of cocaine and 25 grams of marijuana in the man’s possession, both news organizations reported.

Anthony Vincent, 28, of Miami was charged not only with his outstanding warrants, but also possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, carrying a dangerous weapon and a host of other offenses, the New Times reported.

While he bonded out on the charges for $7,500, it seems the Connecticut State Police also had an active warrant out for his arrest. Vincent is now awaiting a Feb. 20 court hearing in state police custody.
