Fort Bragg Soldier Shoots, Kills Self, Pregnant Wife: Report
Sarasota native Staff Sgt. Keith Lewis on Sunday killed himself, his wife Sarah and their unborn baby due on Christmas, reports said.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 31-year-old Sarasota native and soldier assigned to the Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg in North Carolina is believed to have killed his pregnant wife before turning the gun on himself Sunday evening, the Army Times reported.
Just after 7 p.m., police found Staff Sgt. Keith Lewis dead from a self-inflicted gunshot in the couple’s Fayetteville, North Carolina home, reports said.
His pregnant wife, Sarah Lewis, had also been shot and was brought to a hospital for treatment. The 34-year-old woman and the couple’s unborn child later died from their injuries, reports said.

The baby, Sarah’s fourth daughter and the couple’s second child, was due on Christmas Day, WRAL reported.
Fayetteville police said that Lewis shot his wife, then himself after a domestic dispute, according to reports.

The Army Times said the couple’s 3-year-old daughter was present during the shooting but was uninjured. She’s being cared for by family in North Carolina.
Sarah previously served in the military until her first daughter was born, WFAL said. Since then, she’s worked as a paramedic.
