'Welcome To FL Folks': Gator Bangs On Front Door Of Charlotte County Home, Sheriff Says
Homeowners in Charlotte County were woken up by a large gator banging on their front door Monday, the sheriff's office said.
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL — A large gator woke up homeowners in Charlotte County by banging on their front door, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
The gator appeared outside a home in the Rotonda West neighborhood, crashing into the front door and surprising the homeowners, the sheriff's office shared in a Facebook post.
“Welcome to Florida, folks!” the sheriff’s office said.

Trappers who responded to the home estimated that the gator weighs about 350 pounds and is 7 feet, 7 inches long, CCSO said.

The gator has been relocated to a sanctuary, where it “will enjoy hundreds of acres of swamps and other gators to hang with,” the agency added. “Gators who lack fear of humans create a dangerous situation as the gator may strike at any time killing or seriously injuring a person or animal(s).”
