Girl Scouts Offers Membership Assistance

Girl Scout program scholarships are available for girls whose families are experiencing financial hardships

Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida is working to ensure local girls can still become a part of the premier leadership development program for girls, in spite of family financial hardships.

Through the council’s Promise Fund, girls may receive program scholarships to cover the cost of membership registration and program essentials.

“Whether a family is struggling with unexpected expenses as a result of Hurricane Irma, or was already experiencing financial difficulties, we want to ensure that all girls in grades K through 12 can participate in Girl Scouting,” said Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida CEO Mary Anne Servian. “We recognize there is a need, now more than ever, for financial assistance, and we want everyone to know about this valuable opportunity.”

Girl Scouting offers a variety of different experiences in which girls get to try new things and develop specific skills, from camping and first aid to financial literacy and STEM, while earning program awards and badges. Because the Girl Scout curriculum is correlated to national and state learning standards, educators and parents can be confident that girls have fun, active experiences that reinforce what they are learning during the school day.

Scholarships are available to both new and returning members. For more information about scholarships or general membership inquiries, call (800) 232-4475, or email customercare@gsgcf.org.
