I Survived The Crash @ Siesta Drive Post Office

If the two security doors had not twisted the vehicle to the right I would not be here. I was in the direct path of the vehicle.

I had just taken off my sunglasses to read my mail at the counter facing Siesta Drive and made a last minute decision to put on my reading glasses. I heard a loud sound like a thousand slot machines paying off at the same time. I turned to see the vehicle crash through the doors and go to the right crashing into the line of post office boxes. Had that not happened I of have been crushed between the vehicle and the front of the building.

I felt a sting on my nose, I didn't notice it at the time I was more concerned with the two pieces of the glass security doors that were lodged between my eye and my eye glasses. The manager of that branch, the police officer that responded and the EMT on the scene were aware of my injury. I did decline to be transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital stating I would go to my own opthamologist and signed the paper work the EMT gave me.

When I approached the vehicle it was obvious that the vehicle was moving forward when it entered the building and veered to the right. There were customers in the center aisle when the vehicle entered the building thankfully it did not continue moving forward.
