SARASOTA, FL — Members of the Sarasota Police Department’s Marine Patrol Unit were boating in local waterways when they saw something unusual as they entered New Pass Wednesday: someone swimming in the channel.

Since this “is out of the norm” in those waters, the officers sprung to action, police shared in a Facebook post.

They quickly realized that a jet skier and his puppy passenger were forced to “abandon their sinking ship,” according to SPD.
