Katt Hefner Kicks Off Two New Jazz Nights at Two New Locations
"Lady K's Jazz Cookbook+" moves to Tamiami Tap on Thursdays and "Uptown Jazz Downtown" Launches at Umbrellas 1296 on Saturdays
(Sarasota, Florida) – In the spirit of the holiday season, jazz/R&B/soul song stylist and musical showcase producer Katt Hefner will be presenting the Holiday Edition of her “Lady K’s Jazz Cookbook+” series throughout December at Tamiami Tap at 711 South Osprey Avenue in Sarasota. Several special musical guests will be featured on Thursday evenings during the month in order to highlight some of the most talented artists in the area.
In addition, Hefner will also be launching “Uptown Jazz Downtown” on Saturday nights at Umbrellas 1296 beginning December 14 and into 2020 in its historic upstairs lounge at 1296 First Street next door to the Opera House. Hefner’s smooth and sultry vocals will be accompanied by several seasoned jazz players on a rotating basis. Music starts at 7:30 and goes until 10:30.
The first Lady K’s Jazz Cookbook + Holiday Edition event at Tamiami Tap is set for December 12 when she presents the Fred Johnson Trio featuring Fred Johnson, Michael Ross and Liston Gregory III. Throughout his 40+ year career, Johnson has performed with many jazz and blues greats including Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Ramsey Lewis, Cedar Walton, Nat Adderley and Chick Corea. Music begins at 6:30 and guests can choose from a dinner/show package at $36 or going a la carte with a $10 cover.

The following Thursday, December 19, the Soul Fresh jazz vocal ensemble with William Coleman from Manatee School For the Arts will be joining Hefner for another spirited Lady K’s Jazz Cookbook+ show at Tamiami Tap offering a new twist on classic jazz and the figgy pudding of the holiday season. Music starts at 6:30 with a $5 cover at the door.
Lady K's Pre New Year’s Eve Party will also be happening at Tamiami Tap on December 26 at 6:30 p.m. celebrating the Songs of Today and Yesteryear with keyboard virtuoso Eric Enfield joining Hefner to transition into the new year. Admission is $5 at the door.

As an extra special Christmas bonus, Hefner will also be hosting "Christmas Caroling Around Five Points" with the Soul Fresh vocal group directed by William Coleman on Friday, December 13, beginning at Umbrellas 1296. Festivities kick off at 6 p.m. and continue until 8.
Katt Hefner is considered to be one of today’s top international jazz sirens to be watched. Her credits include musicals, television, movies, records and concerts that span the world, including the renowned Jazz in the Heritage Gardens festival in Moscow, the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, Sarasota Jazz Festival, Ringling International Art Festival’s Jazz by the Bay and at many regional jazz clubs throughout the country. She has shared the stage with such musical greats as Patti LaBelle, Ronnie Spector, The Count Basie Quartet, The Temptations and Luther Vandross, to name but a few. From dark sultry jazz to energetic pop, Hefner has produced goose bumps from Japan to her hometown of Ford City, Pennsylvania, through a passionate ebb and flow of sonic energy, engagement and a voice that comes right out from her soul directly to her audience.
