Local Lottery Winners: Two Sarasota-Area Residents Win Big
A Sarasota woman won $2 million in a FL Lottery scratch-off game, while a Lakewood Ranch man won $50,000 in a special promotion.
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — There were two big Florida Lottery winners in the Sarasota area in March.
A 54-year-old Sarasota woman claimed a $2 million top prize from the $10 GOLD RUSH SUPREME scratch-off game, Florida Lottery said in a news release.
Dana Spencer chose to receive her winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $1.76 million. She claimed her prize using a secured drop box at the Florida Lottery’s Tallahassee headquarters.

She purchased her winning ticket from the Publix at 5804 Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota. The grocery store will receive a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.
The $10 GOLD RUSH SUPREME game launched in January and features more than $244.8 million in cash prizes, including eight top prizes of $2 million. The game's overall odds of winning are 1-in-3.49.

Jerry Newman, a Lakewood Ranch man, also won $50,000 in the Florida Jackpots Bonus Play promotion.
The limited time promotion ran from Feb. 1-28. Any Florida Lotto or Jackpot Triple Play tickets purchased during that time were eligible for entry into the promotion.
In a March 3 drawing, 121 winners were selected to receive cash prizes totaling $300,000. Newman won the top prize in the promotion.
