Man Arrested for Beating, Killing In-Laws' Dachshund
A review of home security footage showed the Sarasota County man kicking and beating the dog.

A 24-year-old Sarasota County man faces multiple felony animal cruelty charges after he was caught on video beating Athena, his in-law’s miniature Dachshund.
Sarasota County deputies say the incident unfolded Aug. 8 when the man was asked to watch the 12-pound dog at his in-law’s Cutting Horse Trail home. When they returned, they were told the dog ran away.
The in-laws’, however, reviewed their home surveillance video footage and discovered that Athena had been thrown, chased and beaten. The footage also shows the man carrying “the lifeless dog out the back door and into a nearby wooded area,” a sheriff’s office media release said.

Stacy Glover, 24, of Nokomis was arrested Tuesday on four counts of felony aggravated cruelty to an animal and one count of tampering with evidence. He was being held Wednesday at the Sarasota County Jail on $50,000 bond.
Deputies say Athena’s body has not been recovered, but a veterinarian reviewed the video footage and determined the force was enough to cause fatal injuries.
