Man Who Set Fire To Warm Mineral Springs Motel Room Convicted: State

A man who set fire to a Warm Mineral Springs Motel room in 2022 was convicted for arson charge, State Attorney Ed Brodsky's office said.

NORTH PORT, FL — A man who set fire to a Warm Mineral Springs Motel room last year was convicted after a June 8 jury trial at the Sarasota County Courthouse for the charge of arson to a dwelling, according to State Attorney Ed Brodsky’s office.

William Russell Voswinkel Jr. faces a maximum possible sentence of 30 years in prison. His sentencing will take place June 27.

After setting fire inside the North Port motel room on March 3, 2022, Voswinkel left the property and went to a nearby residential neighborhood, where he threatened to burn down a resident’s home, the state attorney’s office said.

He was arrested by the North Port Police Department shortly after making this threat.
