North Lido Beach Forestry Project Completed
The city recently removed invasive trees, replacing them with native ones at North Lido Beach.
SARASOTA, FL — Visitors to North Lido Beach may notice a few changes if they haven’t been in a while.
The city of Sarasota announced Wednesday that it had officially completed an urban forestry improvement project at the beach. The project involved pulling out invasive Australian pine trees and replacing them with native trees.
The project was partially funded by an Urban and Community Forestry grant for $10,000 it received in 2014. The city matched the grant with a little more than $10,000 to complete the effort, the city said in an email. The U.S. Forest Service provides the funding for forestry grants.
