New downtown Sarasota restaurant could open as soon as next week (coralspringsflnews.com) — A new Filipino fast-casual spot, Tastes of the Philippines, is set to open as soon as next week in downtown Sarasota's Courthouse Centre on Ringling Boulevard. Sarasota County weighs buying Gulf Gate golf course (mysuncoast.com) — Sarasota County commissioners are studying whether to buy the closed Gulf Gate golf course, a move that could limit new development and help address worsening neighborhood flooding. Staff will keep negotiating with the owner, analyze costs and uses, and survey nearby residents about their priorities, including whether they'd support special taxing districts to fund stormwater or other improvements.
