Years after Sarasota teen's remains were found, mystery still plagues his mother (snntv.com) — Sarasota police are again asking for the public's help to solve the disappearance and death of 14-year-old Jabez Spann, who vanished in Sarasota on Labor Day 2017 and was found in Manatee County in 2019. His mother still seeks answers, and investigators say any tip to Crime Stoppers or SPD could finally bring closure to the family and community.

Sarasota business leaders earn lifetime awards from Argus Foundation (heraldtribune.com) — Two longtime Sarasota business figures, restaurateur Mike Quillen and the late fiduciary leader Roland George Caldwell, will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Argus Foundation on Nov. 11. 3. Florida Studio Theatre offering hope with new Sarasota season (heraldtribune.com) — Florida Studio Theatre is rolling out a new Sarasota season built around connection and hope, with mainstage shows like "Kimberly Akimbo," "Bully Pulpit," "Upgrade," and "How the Light Gets In." Local audiences can also look forward to cabaret revues including "Sailing: Yacht Rock and Beyond," "American Rebels," and a Sarasota-focused "Laughing Matters," with subscriptions starting at $59–$79.
   

4. Top 10 concerts and comedy shows coming to Sarasota's Van Wezel (miramarflnews.com) — Sarasota's Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall has unveiled a packed 2026-27 lineup, including big-name comedians like John Mulaney, Ron White, and Jay Leno plus concerts by Boz Scaggs, The Temptations, The Commodores, and more. Tickets, including presales, start rolling out Sept. 12, giving Sarasota residents plenty of time to plan their nights out on the bayfront.
