SARASOTA, FL — A Bradenton homicide suspect was taken into custody Wednesday night following an hours-long standoff at a Sarasota apartment complex, the Sarasota Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.

Sarasota police, working with the U.S. Marshals office to serve an arrest warrant to Dorian Brooks, 24, arrested him around 10:45 p.m. at the Bayou Oaks Apartments near the Sarasota Bradenton International airport, SPD said.

Brooks was wanted on multiple warrants, including a warrant for first-degree murder.

He was involved in a Jan. 23 armed robbery and shooting at a home in the 100 block of 10th Avenue W. in Bradenton, the Bradenton Police Department said in a news release. During the robbery, seven suspects, including Brooks, shot at three victims more than 60 times. One of the victims, a 23-year-old man, died from his injuries.

With Brooks' arrest Wednesday, five of the seven suspects have been charged, according to BPD.

He was inside a friend's residence for more than 10 hours during the standoff with law enforcement, Sarasota police said. He was hiding in the attic when officers apprehended him.

No one was injured in the incident, which is still under investigation, SPD said.
