Precautionary Boil Water Notice Issued Near Midnight Pass Road
After a water main break near the Siesta Harbor Condominiums, a precautionary boil water notice is in effect for the area.
SARASOTA, FL – A Thursday afternoon water main break at 6289 Midnight Pass Road – in front of the Siesta Harbor Condominiums - has interrupted water services in the area, Sarasota County shared on its social media pages.
“The adjacent 14-inch water main has been isolated to facilitate the repairs and (county) staff is working diligently to complete (the) repair (as) soon as possible,” the county tweeted Thursday at 2:18 p.m.
On its Facebook page, the county wrote that “affected customers are on a precautionary boil water notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Those affected are advised to boil tap water intended for drinking, preparation of food, washing of food utensils or for first aid, and to minimize indoor water usage to prevent sewer back-ups during the interruption to service. To disinfect your water and destroy any harmful microorganisms, bring the water to a rolling boil for one minute. Bottled water may be used as an alternative to boiling tap water.
County staff will distribute door hangers and go door-to-door for outages affecting 50 customers or less.

According to a notice sent out through Alert Sarasota County, “Over the next several days, the county will collect a series of samples in the affected area and analyze them to ensure your drinking water was not contaminated by potentially harmful bacteria during the service interruption.”
Those affected will be notified by an automated call when the boil mater advisory has been canceled.
