Raccoon Burned Alive By Father, Daughter: Sarasota County Sheriff
A Sarasota County father, daughter face felony charges after a video of them burning a raccoon alive went viral, the sheriff's office said.
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A father and daughter were arrested Thursday after “a disturbing video” of the pair apparently burning a raccoon alive in a dumpster went viral on social media, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office shared on its Facebook page.
Following “one of the most extensive investigations ever conducted” by the agency’s Agricultural Unit, the suspects were taken into custody, the sheriff's office said.
Alicia Kincheloe, 30, and her father, Roddy Kincheloe, 63, both of Sarasota, face felony charges, including aggravated animal cruelty, the sheriff’s office said in its post.

Animal activists have been pushing for their arrest since the video first started making the rounds on social media, Traci Lipton, an activist, told Patch.

A rally calling for their arrest was previously planned for Saturday at 2 p.m. outside the State Attorney’s Office in the 12th Judicial Circuit at 2071 Ringling Blvd. Despite their arrest, the rally will still take place, organizers said.
“Now we can unite on Sept. 3 and know your calls, emails, do make a difference. We can thank the Sarasota (County) Sheriff's Office for doing the right thing, and be a determined, cohesive group to follow this process and sit in the courtroom, too,” according to the Facebook event page for the rally.
Lipton, who helped organize the rally, told Patch, “The community wants (Alicia Kincheloe) to be an example of what will happen if you commit felony animal cruelty and while we are all over the moon to see her in handcuffs and doing the perp walk, we want justice in the long run, and we want her punished to the fullest extent of the law."
